INDUSTRY NEWS

GLOBAL: Norway-based live design specialist YR—which has offices in London, Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo—has launched an online customizable event swag platform, offering a solution for companies that may otherwise have ended up unable to interact with their audience outside of a live setting. On the platform, event professionals can design and order their swag, which is produced locally and shipped directly to the virtual event attendee.

NATIONAL: Philadelphia-based networking app Hio Social has launched two new offerings—Virtual Lounge and Network Now—designed to facilitate networking and one-on-one socialization amid the COVID-19 outbreak that's hit pause on in-person interaction. The Virtual Lounge feature requires no moderation and allows event organizers to offer unlimited ticket sales, while Network Now allows professionals to video chat one-on-one for seven minutes
at a time.

ATLANTA: A new venue dubbed Fairway Social is slated to open its doors in Alpharetta. The 11,000-square-foot golf and entertainment venue will feature seven golf simulators offering virtual golfing on 80-plus courses, like California’s Pebble Beach and Georgia’s Sea Island, as well as simulated games for baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, cricket, and zombie dodgeball. Other notable offerings include a rooftop patio bar, an outdoor putting course known as The Back Nine, live music on the weekends, and more.

LOS ANGELES: Ernest Wooden Jr., president and CEO of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, will retire on June 30.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Today at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT, BizBash chairman and founder David Adler and senior editor Ashton Pike will co-host a virtual discussion, dubbed "Conversations from the Inside: Ideas, Insights, and Resources for South Florida Amid COVID-19." Adler and Pike will chat with industry leaders—including Greg Zalkin of Corso Marketing Group, Gary Ressler of Tilia Companies, Kelly Murphy of Events on the Loose, Shai Tertner of Shiraz Creative, Rich Curran Jr. of Expo Convention Contractors, and Dan Cormany, PhD, of Florida International University—about the impact of coronavirus in the Miami/South Florida market, new strategies moving forward, and more. Register here!
