6 S.C. schools named National Blue Ribbon schools

The schools, from the Upstate to the Lowcountry, were recognized for high performance on state assessments or national testing. An online ceremony Nov. 12 and 13 will highlight the 367 winners nationwide.

S.C. part of $60M settlement with medical company

The settlement resolves allegations of deceptive marketing of transvaginal surgical mesh devices. C.R. Bard Inc. and parent company Becton, Dickinson and Co. will be required to disclose potential device complications, among other terms.

Segra Park dining experience to feature S.C. Philharmonic

A five-piece band will provide music to diners at an Oct. 1 event. The event, with seatings at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., is the first of two such experiences planned for the home of the Columbia Fireflies.

SKF consolidating North Charleston, Ohio plants to Sumter

The company, a global producer of precision bearings, is consolidating its North Charleston and Avon, Ohio, plants into its existing Sumter location. SKF plans to cut roughly 120 jobs during the next 12 to 18 months.
