Hello,

Wednesday is when we let you know some of the fantastic things that Lancashire folk are doing.

Schools across Lancashire held a ‘Sparkle Day’ in order to raise money for a charity set up in memory of Manchester Arena victim Saffie-Rose Roussos.

On what would have been Saffie’s 14th birthday, the day was held to raise funds for The Sparkle Bean Trust, a new charity that aims to support primary schools with advice and grants following the sudden death of a pupil.

The charity was born out of the experiences of Tarleton Community Primary School, following the loss of their pupil Saffie, and the subsequent trauma they say “engulfed them”.

Elsewhere, an adventurous paddle boarder braved the River Ribble to raise thousands of pounds for charity in memory of his mum.

Gareth Hughes, who only took up the pursuit by chance a few years ago in his 40s, set out to paddle board the entire 125km length of the river over three days – and despite the elements throwing up some obstacles, he achieved it to raise more than £3,000 for Dementia UK.

Among other stories, we’ve got the news of a schoolboy who is among the star-studded cast of a new TV mini series that is due to air in the UK in September.

Taylor Fay appears in the thriller 'Last Light' with a stellar cast including 'Lost' star Matthew Fox and Joanne Froggatt of ‘Downton Abbey’ fame.

Thanks for reading,

Adam
