Happy Monday! Futures are on the rise to start the week. Dow contracts are up 0.5% this morning, and S&P 500 futures are up 0.4%. Investors are hoping that gains will hold so they can start the month on a positive note after a blowout performance in May.
Record Breaking
The S&P 500 had its best performance since November in April. The index closed April hovering near all-time highs and set several records during the course of the month. It will be hard for the rally to maintain its fervid pace, but it's not slowing down yet.
Uncle Jerome
The U.S.'s leading central banker, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, will speak via a virtual conference at 2:20 p.m. As usual, Wall Street and Main Street will both be listening closely to gain additional insights into the Fed's plan for monetary policy moving forward.
