7 REASONS WHY Ever wondered why you should go to sea for a few weeks or even months? For our crew members it is the thing they love the most about their job. We sat down with them to ask them why.
1) LIVE IN THE MOMENT You get accustomed to the rhythm of the watch system. The days blur, it doesn’t matter whether it is Monday or the weekend, your tasks will be the same.

2) OFF THE GRID There is no phone reception, no newspapers, no internet. It’s just you and your fellow sailors. Live offline without distractions.

3) SLEEP LIKE A BABY The fresh air and the ever-continuing rhythm and not to forget the rocking of the ship: it’s a perfect recipe for a good night’s sleep.

4) GORGEOUS STARRY NIGHTS In the middle of the ocean there is no light pollution at all! Discover the constellations and see the moon rise and set due to the different watches.

5) RESET YOUR LIFE Take a step back and reflect on your life. Maybe you want to do things differently?

6) DEVELOP NEW (GOOD) HABITS Is your cell phone stuck to your hand? Work too hard? Want to stop smoking? In a completely different environment, you can develop some new good habits and loose the bad ones.

7) CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES
We are dependent on the elements, such as the wind and the waves. It’s likely we will encounter heavy winds, rain, thunderstorms, etc. It is pretty different when you are not sitting in your office or at home on the couch but standing at the wheel. But also amazing sunsets and maybe even a dip in the ocean with 5000 meters of water below you.

REVIEW BY ONE OF OUR GUESTS “The trip, Rotterdam-Sal (23 Nov-21 Dec 2018) was just what I needed after a stressful working year. The first week we had windy and chilly weather, but wearing an offshore suit makes it all bearable. While the wind blows in the sails and tries to blow you away, there's just your moment of relaxing and mindfulness, just the ocean, the ship, your companions and the starry night. I had great conversations with the others, we had stormy seas, harbour visits, we saw dolphins, flying fish, and had the best meals you can imagine every day! Almost 1 month on the ship Oosterschelde. Great ship, personal, great captains. The best trip ever, beyond my imagination. Henk”
LAST MINUTE OPPORTUNITY In less than two weeks we set sail again from Rotterdam to Tenerife and further to Cape Verde. There are still a few bunks left. Read more

NEED MORE TIME? No problem! In March you can join us from Cape Verde to the Mediterranean. A challenging voyage as we need to plan our route carefully. Will we make it to Madeira? Or will we make a stop in the Azores before we enter Gibraltar, where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. If the trip goes fast, we might have time to make another stop along the south coast of Spain or on the Balearic Islands before we arrive, after one month at sea, in Sète.
DUTCH TALL SHIPS ALERT
DUTCH TALL SHIPS ALERT Join TECLA from Cape Town to the Azores on a true ocean adventure. A voyage of 54 days with over 5000 miles, crossing the equator, possibly visiting St Helena and Ascension Island before finishing the voyage on an island group in the middle of the ocean, the Azores. Setting sail from Cape Town, there is a near guarantee of spotting some fairy penguins or dolphins playing at the bow wave. With many miles ahead of us, sail will be set and the traditional S turn will be used to sail with the wind from the South Atlantic into the North Atlantic.
