After yesterday's record breaking heat (101 at DCA, 99 at IAD), temperatures will be lower today, but still plan for a hot and very humid day. We will be under a Storm Alert this afternoon and evening. Areas of rain and storms will develop late in the day, so keep the umbrella at the ready. With such high humidity, any storms that develop have the capability of bringing heavy downpours, damaging winds, and hail. Rainfall totals could exceed 1 inch in some heavier storms.
