THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2024 TODAY: WIND ALERT WIND ADVISORY UNTIL 6PM Early Morning Rain/Snow Showers Partly Sunny, Windy Highs: 40s (pre-dawn) Temperatures: 40s to 30s Wind Chills: 20s (teens west) Winds: West 10-20, Gusts to 40 mph + A robust cold front will pass through early this morning bringing a chance for rain and snow showers. Air temperatures are above freezing, so roads will likely just be wet. There isn't a lot of moisture with this system. Only a few hundredths of precipitation is expected. Skies will quickly clear and then it's all about the whipping winds and tumbling temperatures. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until 6pm. Sustained winds of 15-25 mph are expected with gusts over 40 mph possible. Wind chills will fall from the 30s into the 20s for much of the day, so dress warmly. Wind chills will remain in the low 20s for tonight's National Christmas Tree Lighting. FRIDAY: COLD ALERT Mostly Sunny, Breezy Highs: 35-40 Winds: Northwest 10-20, Gusts to 30 mph Even colder weather arrives to round out the work and school week. Highs may struggle to reach 40 degrees for many neighborhoods. Plan for morning wind chills in the teens and afternoon feels-like temperatures in the 20s with a blustery northwest wind. SATURDAY: Partly Sunny Highs: 40-45 Winds: Southwest 10-15 mph Below average temperatures will stick around Saturday under partly cloudy skies.
