Mainly clear skies overnight will allow temperatures to drop to near freezing by dawn. THURSDAY:

Mostly sunny skies, but cold and windy as Arctic air slowly moves into the area. West winds 10 to 15 mph will produce wind chills close to freezing during the afternoon.

Winds: West 8-12 mph
Ahead of another push of cold air, highs for the day will reach the middle 40s. Latest guidance brings a chance for a brief rain/snow mix during the afternoon hours. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

Cold temperatures prevail for the start of the first weekend of the new year. Gusts to 25 miles per hour will keep wind chills in the 20s.
