There is an increasing chance for rain and storms heading into the late afternoon and, especially, evening hours. Any storms that develop could contain downpours that could lead to flash flooding. The National Weather Service will likely issue flood alerts for later today. There is also the chance for damaging wind gusts in storms that develop. The Storm Prediction Center has a majority of the viewing area in the 'Marginal' risk category. Wet weather could impact the evening rush and dinner plans, for some. TONIGHT: Scattered Showers, Storms Lows: 72-76 Winds: South 5 mph Areas of rain and storms will continue for some overnight. Otherwise, plan for clouds, high humidity, and temperatures in the 70s.
THURSDAY: Partly Cloudy Isolated Late Day T-Storms Highs: 90-95 Heat Index: 100-105 Winds: Southwest 5-15 mph This will be the hottest day of the week with afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s. Heat index values will be near 105 degrees. With the heating of the day, showers and thunderstorms could develop. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire viewing area under the Level 1 'Marginal' risk category for the threat of damaging wind gusts. The risk of flash flooding continues with the high humidity and saturated ground. The National Weather Service may post an heat advisory for parts of the DMV. FRIDAY: Partly Cloudy Chance PM Storms Highs: 85-90 Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph Hot and humid weather will round out the week with scattered shower and storm chances during the afternoon and evening hours.
