TODAY: HEAT ALERT, STORM ALERT Partly Cloudy Isolated PM Storms Highs: 92-97 Heat Index: 100-105 Winds: Southwest 5-15, Gusts 20 mph Thursday is shaping up to be a summer scorcher. With highs in the lower to middle 90s, feels like readings may range between 100 and 105. The National Weather Service has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for D.C. from 11 am. until 8 p.m. Plan for a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, with a chance for storms sprinkled in during the afternoon and evening. Any popup storms could bring a quick downpour and gusty winds. The Storm Prediction Center has the DMV in the Level 1 of 5 'Marginal' risk category for severe storms. Rain chances are much lower than yesterday with many neighborhoods remaining rain-free. TONIGHT: Partly Cloudy Lows: 70-75 Winds: Northwest 5 mph Dry weather is expected overnight with lows in the 70s. FRIDAY: Partly Sunny Chance Showers, Storms Highs: 83-86 Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph Friday will bring increasing rain chances, as a slow-moving cold front approaches and stalls over across the Mid-Atlantic. The day may start off fairly quiet with a mix of sun and clouds, but clouds will increase during the day with showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center has the DMV in the Level 1 of 5 'Marginal' risk category for severe storms. The Weather Prediction Center also has the area highlighted in the Level 1 risk category for flash flooding. As winds shift out of the north, you may notice a slight drop in humidity. SATURDAY: Scattered PM Showers and Storms Highs; 83-88 Winds: South 8-12 mph Saturday’s weather around the DMV will be classic mid-July with warm, muggy, and unsettled conditions. Expect highs in the upper 80s with an elevated stickiness factor. Skies will be mostly cloudy for much of the day, along with a decent chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Some storms could bring brief heavy downpours and gusty winds. It won’t be washout, but not a dry day either, your best bet for outdoor plans is earlier in the day. SUNDAY: PM Showers and Storms Highs: near 90 Winds: West 5-10 mph As the weekend winds down, typical summertime weather returns. It will be sticky, cloudy, along with shower and storm chances later int he day. Highs will be around 90 with heat index values ranging from the middle 90s to near 100 at times.
