THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 2024 TODAY: Sunny to Partly Cloudy Isolated PM Shower, Storm Highs: 85-89 Winds: South 5-10 mph Our weather pattern starts to change today with a slight increase in humidity and higher afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s. With the heating of the day, one or two brief showers or storms could develop, but coverage will be very isolated in nature, if you're looking at live radar. Warm weather is expected for your evening plans with the sun setting just after 8:30 p.m. TONIGHT: Mainly Clear Lows: 68-74 Winds: South 5 mph Even milder temperatures are expected overnight with lows not falling below 70 degrees in the District.
FRIDAY: STORM ALERT Mostly to Partly Sunny Chance PM Rain, Storms Highs: 87-92 Winds: Southwest 5-10 mph We'll round out the week with sunshine and highs around 90 degrees. A cold front will approach late in the day and could trigger a few showers and storms. There is the chance for a few isolated strong to severe storms, which is why our team is on a Storm Alert for the afternoon and evening hours. Damaging winds are the greatest threat in any storms that develop. Keep this in mind if you have outdoor plans Friday evening. SATURDAY: Sunny Skies Highs: Low to Mid 80s Winds: Northwest 5-15 mph Humidity levels will fall early in the morning giving way to a beautiful start to the weekend. Expect nearly full sunshine, a refreshing breeze, and warm afternoon highs in the 80s.
SUNDAY: Partly Cloudy Highs: Mid 80s Winds: NE to SE 5-10 mph Father's Day is looking wonderful for anything you have planned with dad. After a cooler start in the 50s for many, high temperatures will be comfortably warm in the mid 80s. With low humidity, weather will look and feel great for anything outdoors! NEXT WEEK: The summer solstice occurs on Thursday and Mother Nature is turning up the heat! Expect high temperatures well into the 90s every single day next week. With higher humidity levels, feels-like temperatures will be around 100 (or higher) degrees, which may result in heat alerts. This will be the first persistent heat wave of the year, so make sure you are getting ready for the heat by checking your air conditioning and air filters.
