Yesterday, a client asked if they should start a podcast.
For 95% of my clients, the answer to that question is usually no.
Why?
Because there are better, more efficient and less time consuming ways to get customers than starting a podcast.
The reason I do a podcast is because I have all the other systems in place.
If you don’t, here’s what I recommend doing first:
1. Ask all current clients for referrals.
Make sure you have a system in place for this and try to offer your clients something they can GIVE to the referral, from you, that will benefit them.
I know successful realtors who offer brochures or PDFs with tips on buying a home or securing financing. In my business we like to offer copies of my books to help improve their productivity and time management.
2. Implement a Customer Reactivation campaign for all past clients.
All you need to do is come up with a simple, appealing offer (ideal result + special discount + guarantee usually works well) and send it to all past clients.
9 times out of 10 you’ll get a nice chunk of extra sales.
3. Run a FB ads campaign (also consider TikTok, Google, and YouTube ads depending on your niche market and where your audience resides).
4. Send two to three emails to your list (if you have one) with great content and link to your offer.
(Remember: even if you’re not actively emailing your list of customers… if you collect emails when people buy, you DO have an email list.)
5. Identify 10 places where you can do public speaking to your target audience, or media properties (radio, someone else’s podcast) where you can get the word out... then reach out to all of them
6. Build your social media following using my “Bicycle Wheel” content distribution model (create your content for one main hub – your best social channel – and then repurpose it for all other “spokes” ... For me, my hub is Instagram, and then we also post on YT, FB, and LinkedIn).
7. Get consistent with video content creation (2-3 videos per week, ideally more if you can)
8. Make a list of your “Dream Dozen” partners and influencers who could send you clients and then reach out to them and arrange some type of JV/affiliate commission deal
Alright...
So if there were a number 9 on this list…
It probably would be to start a podcast.
Once you have all those other customer generation systems going you could start solo podcasting — creating 10-30 minute episodes that go up on all the podcast platforms as well as YouTube.
If your goal is to get customers, then I’d do a mix of 2/3 solo shows and 1/3 interviews. That’s similar to how I do Early to Rise Radio.
The purpose is to make YOU look good, not other people (you can make them look good too, but remember the purpose here).
And keep in mind…
You are NOT doing all the work of producing a podcast for "likes" or an ego-boost, you are doing it to get clients.
So those are the 8 pillars I recommend in your Fast Customer Attraction Model…
And that’s how I would (and do) incorporate podcasting into it.
I’m confident just two or three of these methods can unleash a flood of new sales for you…
And if you really get all 8 of them rocking?
It could completely transform your business.
I’d love to hear how these strategies help you…
Let me know how it goes.

Craig
