It's Wednesday - welcome to mid-week! We've got a full menu of news, features and sports today at the Lunch Line Cafe, so dig in.
911 troubles: The agency that runs New Orleans' 911 call service can’t make its pension payments and is seeking a City Hall bailout to the tune of $3 million. And, Ben Myers reports, there’s plenty of finger-pointing to go with the mess.
Landfill expansion: River Birch, the owner of one of the region’s biggest landfills, wants to get even bigger. The company will ask the Jefferson Parish Council today for a rezoning that would unlock that expansion, Lara Nicholson reports.
Best Saints: Time to start an argument, Saints fans. Which team do you think was the best Saints team ever? Columnist Jeff Duncan gives us his five. Spoiler alert: The Super Bowl team isn’t his best.
Forecasting romance: Celeb weather talker Jim Cantore creates quite the stir when his hurricane hopping brings him to south Louisiana. But it might not just be hurricanes that bring him to visit the Pelican State. He’s found romance with a fellow meteorologist who hails from Broussard, Ja’Kori Madison reports. Speaking of TV meteorologists, did you catch Keith Spera's recent take on the outsized role they play with the New Orleans television audience? Great stuff. And while we’re on the subject of hurricanes, here’s the latest on Helene, which continues to churn on a course to the Florida Panhandle.
