As the U.S. continues to grapple with the pandemic, crossing the 5 million total case mark on Sunday, Minnesota also hit a grim milestone over the weekend, with the latest case total now over 60,000. The daylight hours of Monday look rain-free in most of Minnesota. Highs will be in the upper 70s, with lower 80s in southeastern Minnesota. More on Updraft. Coronavirus seems far from contained; Minnesota reports 924 and 806 cases on the weekend. The state saw a new daily record for COVID-19 cases on Saturday when officials confirmed more than 900 cases a day. Sunday’s case number was down from Saturday's record high, but still ahead of the recent daily average. As the state continues to see upticks in new daily cases, health officials are asking Minnesotans to stay vigilant in efforts to slow the virus’ spread, including self-isolating at home when waiting for COVID-19 test results. No, the rumors aren't true. Children can get severely ill from COVID-19. And the chances are several times higher for Hispanic and Black children than their white peers -- with Hispanic kids about eight times as likely as white children to be hospitalized and Black children five times as likely. Researchers don’t have an answer yet to why some racial groups are hospitalized at higher rates than others, but a CDC report says: "It has been hypothesized that Hispanic adults might be at increased risk for SARS-CoV-2 infection because they are overrepresented in frontline occupations.” Another big news of this week: It’s Minnesota’s primary day Tuesday.
