Hi John, If you've ever opened an art journal or sketchbook, you know that moment – just you and the blank page, wondering where to begin. 😳 Maybe looking at that problematic blank page brings on feelings of uncertainty, a bout of artist's block, creative pressure, or a nagging worry that you might "mess it up." Oof, I've been there! (Side note: I'm using my favorite art journal and acrylic paint above, and you can find them both in my Holiday Gift Guide) Art Prompts can take away ALL that pressure and uncertainty. When we have a word or idea to lift us up, get us out of our head, and challenge us to think creatively, we aren't facing that blank page alone. 👯♀️ Instead of facing a blank page with PRESSURE to create, try giving each day a topic or theme. Monday could be for playing with lines, Tuesday for exploring colors, etc. For example, you could lean on the elements and principles of art for a rhythm like this: Monday: lines and marks Tuesday: colors that you enjoy Wednesday: textures of different tools Thursday: shapes that you gravitate to Friday: patterns you notice in nature or your home Saturday: Experiment with a combination of different things Sunday: Reflect on the week and lean into the prompt you enjoyed the most There's no pressure to create a masterpiece. If you're still overwhelmed, you could choose ONE of these focus areas to explore for an entire week. Which one makes you most curious?
