In this South African exclusive, News24's Samantha Herbst chats with screen legend John Lithgow about his latest role in FX's show, a fast-paced thriller series which debuts on Disney+ South Africa Friday, 30 September.

Homeland meets True Detective in a gritty adaptation of the 2017 Thomas Perry thriller The Old Man. It's a television first for big-screen stalwart Jeff Bridges, who plays disgraced former CIA agent Dan Chase.

Playing opposite Bridges is silver-screen legend and veteran performer John Lithgow, who takes on the role of Harold Harper, the FBI's Assistant Director for Counterintelligence. Mere weeks after his adult son's tragic and mysterious death, Harper is called back into service to hunt down Chase, and we soon learn that the duo has a complicated past.

Bridges and Lithgow take to their respective roles like the old Hollywood hands they are, offering deep and nuanced portrayals of their respective characters with all the necessary drama and tension that will make this on-screen coupling iconic.

REVIEW
