Halls January Fine Art and Antiques Auction has been carefully curated by Senior Valuer Alexander Clement and Paintings and Prints Specialist Abigail Molenaar. The sale includes a high quality selection of oils with fresh-to-market portraiture by Scottish artist Anna Katrina Zinkeisen (1901 - 1976) offered by a descendent of Zinkeisen. The collection will likely spark interest given the artist's recent results at auction. Another lot which is expected to attract attention is 'The Interior of St Pauls Cathedral' by Thomas Prytherch (1864-1926). Prytherch was an artist known especially for his architectural views and the detail represented in this study is exquisite. Further lots worth highlighting are a good iridescent ammonite specimen (Placenticeras meeki) 75- to 72-million-years-old (Late Cretaceous). It is an incredibly well preserved specimen displaying a wide range of the most vivid ammolite colouring. 'Ammolite' is the name given to the colourful and wonderful Ammonite fossils found in the famous Bear Paw Formation in Southern Alberta, Canada. Equally impressive is a rare and very unusual late Victorian carved mahogany mirror-back taxidermy sideboard which contains a mixed ornithological diorama showcasing a grey-headed woodpecker, red bunting, jay, goldfinch and nightingale. This is our first 'live' auction of 2025 and we hope you find something of interest in our online catalogue. We're open for public viewing on Monday 27th January and Tuesday 28th January. If you have any queries about any of the lots do get in touch. |
