A coffee shop has opened in an old Lafayette auto repair shop on Simcoe Street. There's a reason why

Good morning, Acadiana business news readers. It's business news time.

Coffeeweed Cottage, a coffee shop that also offers books, plants and home decor opened this week in an old auto repair shop at the corner of Simcoe and Poydras streets in Lafayette. The location, owner Denise Champagne-McClure was quick to point out to me, was intentional.

“I just felt like this community that I picked specifically needed some loving on, if you will,” she told me. "It’s been on my heart to have more conversations with people I don’t know and can’t relate to.”
