Reading the tips from our in-house comedian on improving presentation skills took me back many years to when I was a young journalist in London. I was assigned by my editor to write a round-up of the contemporary comedy scene, so I went out and interviewed a bunch of professional funny people -— and, of course, saw their shows.
I came back to my editor and said, forget about the scene, you just need to put this guy on the cover and make the story about him; I’m the first to interview him. The editor stuck to her original idea and thus passed up the chance to discover Eddie Izzard.
Editors, you have to love them. And the tips, by the way, are powerfully valid for any kind of presentation.
