Welcome to Sleep Diaries: Naked Edition. This week, we talk to Michelle, a 38-year-old divorced mom of one living in Washington, D.C.

I am polyamorous, and so are my two partners. I’ve been with my primary partner for two and a half years, and he hasn't been with anyone else in that time. I've been seeing my secondary partner on and off for about two years; he’s had a couple of regular partners during that time, and has someone he sees whenever he's in Europe. I've been practicing ethical nonmonogamy since 2016. I encounter a lot of mythology around what it looks like, what it is and what people imagine it is. People need to have wider conceptions about what a "normal" relationship can look like. Yes, it's possible to have loving, intimate relationships with multiple people. In my case, those relationships are very different and they are both great. The diary below spans about two weeks with both partners.
