"Well, you're overdue for measles anyway," my mother told me when I started showing symptoms. My cousins had recently suffered through measles, so my mother was anticipating the warning signs. Honestly, I don't recall much about having the measles, although my mother has told me I had a very severe case. The only thing I clearly remember is our black-and-white mutt, Boots, who stayed near me the whole time I was sick.
