You don't want last year's production in Fantasy Football. To a certain extent, you don't even care about it.
Take Todd Gurley. If all we cared about was last season's production, he'd be the obvious No. 1 pick, just like he was this time last year. However, with concerns about his health and playing time cropping up this offseason, you can find him in the second or third round these days. There's plenty of room for Gurley to provide league-winning upside, but he's down there for a reason -- we don't expect a repeat performance.
Ideally, you don't want last year's first-rounders on your team; you want next year's. You want the guys everyone will be tripping over themselves to select in 2020, and you want them when they are still relatively cheap. That means you want 2019's career-year performers.
Dave Richard offers his career-year breakout candidates today, plus we've got a running back with the chance to take a big step forward, a breakdown of how you can use the riskiest players to build a contender, and a look at which offenses will put their running backs in the best position to succeed, and which backs will take advantage of it.
Today could be the day you win your league.
