Warm start to November. It was 74 in International Falls this afternoon — 74 and sunny! And 81 in Willmar! It’ll cool down tonight, with lows in the 30s north to the mid-40s south. But look for more unseasonable warmth tomorrow with highs in the mid-50s to lower 60s north the mid 70s in the south.

Minnesotans join the rest of the nation, waiting for the vote counting to wrap up in a few key states. Former Vice President Joe Biden won Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes by about 8 percent. He got about 1.6 million votes to president Donald Trump’s 1.4 million votes.

Secretary of State Steve Simon called it a textbook election, with turnout topping 78 percent, vying for the top in the nation. He said there were no signs of hacking or significant disruptions at the polls.

Minnesota set a new record for COVID-19  cases for a second day in a row.

New data shows more than 3,800 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed by testing. The new record comes on what is typically the low point of the weekly testing cycle in Minnesota.

The seven-day average for new cases is now over 3,000 for the first time, and double what it was two weeks ago.

The state reported 31 new deaths today, as the seven-day rolling average of daily deaths is above 20 again for the first time since mid-June. New hospital admissions reported to the state have also topped 200 for the second day in a row.
