Dear John, In 1531, the Blessed Mother appeared to Saint Juan Diego. The last time she appeared to him, she arranged roses in his tilma, which he then took to the bishop. When he opened his cloak, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously present on the tilma.
After this event, millions of Aztecs converted to the Catholic faith. And now, almost 500 years later, Our Lady of Guadalupe continues to change hearts and lives.
Over the past two years, we have created online resources that feature the different feasts and seasons of the Church. Today, we hope that you will visit the Our Lady of Guadalupe page. While there, you can learn about Saint Juan Diego, the tilma, and the message of the Blessed Virgin.
On the page, you can also sign up for the free eBook, The Miracles of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This book explores the fact that the tilma hasn’t disintegrated, that it survived a nitric acid spill and a bomb attack, and that there is music found within the tilma’s images. You can visit the page and sign up for the eBook here: ewtn.com/ourladyofguadalupe. We hope that this resource inspires you.
May Our Lady of Guadalupe guide you, especially this Advent, toward her Beloved Son.
In Christ,
