Good evening, 

A low-pressure system will develop over South Dakota this weekend and move very slowly northeastward. That system will bring gusty south-southeasterly winds and warm weekend temps to Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Saturday highs will range from around 80 degrees in southwestern Minnesota to the upper 50s in parts of northeastern Minnesota. Much of the southern half of Minnesota, plus western Wisconsin, will have highs in the 70s

A healing space: Afghan refugee resource hub opens in Minneapolis
A new resource center for Afghan refugees opened its doors Thursday in Minneapolis. The Afghan Cultural Society on Cedar Avenue will serve as a resettlement support space for refugees in the Twin Cities.

"Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow" debuts, well, tomorrow. It's a musical representation of the cataclysmic year 2020, performed by Minnesota group The Singers. The public can hear it for the first time Saturday.

A Jan. 6 House committee used subpoena power today against former President Donald Trump. Lawmakers say he is the “central cause” of a coordinated, multi-part effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Winters are skewing colder here thanks to the ongoing La Niña event, but the climate change warming trend is looking stronger. Across most of Minnesota, whether snowfall will be above or below average this winter is up in the air.
