A Holocaust survivor's message of hope |
|
Standing in line together at the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944, Abram Goldberg made a promise to his mother. He would live, and he would tell everyone their story. His mother would not survive the Nazi regime. Neither would his father and two of his sisters. Now 97, Abram has more than fulfilled his promise to his mother. He has shared his story with tens of thousands of people, many of them students. His message to them is simple: despite witnessing unimaginable horror, he refuses to hate. "I'm always giving a message … of hope, not of despair." Read more of Abram's powerful and heartbreaking story in our online article. Then, journey with Background Briefing to the public housing blocks of inner Sydney to rejoin local resident Pierre the Birdman, whom we first met three years ago. Pierre is still on a mission to improve the old housing complex. But when one resident goes missing, a series of events unfolds that shakes his neighbours to their core. Read the online article, or listen to the podcast episode to hear the full story. Until next time, Anna Levy, RN deputy digital editorEnjoy getting ABC RN in your inbox?
