A year after losing its accreditation, Northlake Behavioral Health continues collecting Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements despite federal inspection reports that the Mandeville hospital repeatedly fails to meet safety standards. Two weeks after street flooding paralyzed parts of New Orleans, the Sewerage & Water Board has restored enough power sources to operate its drainage pumps at full capacity during heavy rains — but just barely. What started as a pop-up tapping the flavors of family heritage and the cravings they set is now becoming a new restaurant bringing something different to Mid-City New Orleans: “Greek and Jewish soul food.”
