A James Beard semifinalist in Lafayette

Last fall Madonna Broussard started getting invites for interviews from TV programs around the country. They all wanted to know more about gumbo, particularly since it was National Gumbo Day last fall.

That visibility — and the reputation for the food at her Lafayette restaurant, Laura's II Cafe — has resulted in being named a finalist for the James Beard Award as one of the best chefs in the southern U.S.
