This May, WWD will celebrate the 25th anniversary of our Beauty CEO Summit by bringing together leaders from all aspects of the industry and beyond to chart the future. To be held May 9-10 at Cipriani South Street in New York, the Silver Summit will explore how the seismic cultural, economic and demographic waves that are rocking our society will impact business in the years to come. Can beauty maintain its seemingly unstoppable momentum? What will experiential retail look like? What qualities must leaders possess to adapt to a forever-changed workforce? How are emerging technologies like generative AI impacting beauty and why is Gen Z so damn mad? Thus far, confirmed speakers include Albert Bourla, chairman and CEO of Pfizer, author and activist Amanda Gorman; Coty Inc.’s CEO Sue Nabi; Shiseido Company Limited representative director, chairman and CEO Masahiko Uotani; Ulta Beauty’s Dave Kimbell; Mecca co-CEO and founder Jo Horgan, JUV Consulting’s Ziad Ahmed, and Asmita Dubey, chief digital and marketing officer of L’Oréal Group. While today’s business-scape looks very different 25 years on — back then, Sephora was just opening in the U.S., makeup artists like Bobbi Brown and Francois Nars were in the early days of establishing the Indie revolution and social media referred to the party pictures WWD ran on the Eye page — what has remained constant is that beauty is transforming rapidly and success is contingent both on anticipating change and then quickly leveraging it. In the days to come, we’ll be announcing more speakers, and we hope to see you there, too, to help us celebrate the incredible strides beauty has made and forge a future filled with promise. JENNY B.
