A letter of thanks and praise
First, I praise God for providing the means to complete our first property purchase, called Bridge Avenue Apartments. The apartments are full and this purchase has given us the opportunity to help many facing the challenge of affordable housing. The apartments currently serve as an affordable option for those facing the challenge increasing rental cost. The long-term goal for the apartments is to serve as an option for housing those coming out of the Murfreesboro Rescue Mission’s programs.
Second, I praise God for giving us the opportunity to purchase the one-acre lot adjacent to the apartments. This property will be used to build a twenty square foot shelter used to help people struggling with homelessness, addiction, and other issues get started on the road to recovery.
Third, I thank God for bringing you and people like you to pray and partner in serving and giving toward this great cause. Because of you, lives are being impacted through our programs. Please consider this letter as an invitation to join us at several upcoming events: - August 24… MRM’s annual yard sale (we still need items).
- September 13… MRM’s annual golf tournament. This year’s event will be at Champion Run, Rockvale, Tn.
- September 19… MRM’s annual banquet to be held at the Fountains in Murfreesboro.
My passion for helping the homeless started over thirty years ago while working at Nashville Rescue Mission. I left the Mission for a number of years and then returned for a total of sixteen years of service. I learned a lot do appreciate my time there. While I was there, I felt called to start the Murfreesboro Rescue Mission and began to develop a business plan. Plans for a future shelter include: - a permanent shelter to serve the homeless who have no place or cannot get into existing shelters
- meaningful programs that help clients overcome barriers that hinder recovery from life degrading issues
- affordable housing for those who have graduated from our programs
These are all fantastic events and worthy of your support. Please come and learn more about what we’re doing and how you can help us take the next step. While we’re working on the capital campaign to raise funds for a building, we are now taking donations towards it. Any gift designated for the shelter will go towards the building of a shelter and the same for our water campaign. Please see the card included to designate a gift toward helping our homeless friends in our community.
