How Will the Pandemic Impact Super Bowl 2021's OOH Advertising?

When most people talk about Super Bowl ads, they—understandably—think of TV spots.

But off screen, there's another huge aspect of each Big Game: the outdoor ads.

Cities that host the Super Bowl experience an out-of-home boom unlike any other, with huge brands from around the world rushing to claim every billboard, bus shelter and random slab of signage that might be seen by visitors (or cameras).

What about this year, though? With Covid-19 keeping most fans from attending, will the Super Bowl be a local ad bonanza again?

My Adweek colleagues Ian Zelaya and Erik Oster take a fascinating look at that issue on our site today. You'll definitely want to read this one to find out where out-of-home will thrive and where it will lose out in this year's Super Bowl.

Speaking of which, how will your Super Bowl watching experience change this year? (I always watch in relative isolation so that I can live tweet for Adweek, though even my small gathering will likely be verboten this year.) Let me know at the email below or at @Griner on Twitter.

Wishing you a restful and contemplative weekend,
