More COVID-19 relief for city nonprofits
Happy hump day, everyone. As the votes from yesterday's statewide primary get counted, here's some good news out of the city.
The Mayor's Office and the Baltimore Civic Fund just announced that they gave out $3.4 million in American Rescue Plan dollars to 120 Baltimore nonprofits. Each grant was worth up to $50,000 and administered through the Nonprofit Relief Fund.
Individual amounts could vary from $5,000 to $25,000 and above, with no set minimum announced — only the aforementioned $50,000 max. Funds were also restricted to use for costs centered around COVID-impacted budget areas like:
- Working capital such as rent, payroll and utilities
- Professional services (e.g., marketing, hiring, accounting)
- Infrastructure improvement related to the mitigation of COVID-19 such as HVAC upgrades, as well as related equipment and services to expand outdoor services
- Technology to support telework
- Purchase of COVID-19-related supplies such as PPE.
What do you believe the impact of this funding will be for nonprofits in Baltimore? If you're an org that received such funding (including any of the tech- and entrepreneurship-focused recipients), how have the funds impacted your organization? How do you plan to use those funds?
