3 new police reform bills making their way through Utah Legislature
The Utah Legislature is considering a handful of bills on police reform this session, and they're making their way through some early legislative hurdles.
If passed, the bills would reform how law enforcement handles use-of-force incidents and mental health calls. Now, the pieces of legislation head for a full vote in the House.

A measure that would scrap turf requirements on park strips was just endorsed by a legislative committee. HB282 sponsor Rep. Ryan Wilcox, R-Ogden, said issuing a prohibition on xeriscaping in Utah makes no sense, and "if someone wants to do the right thing in the second driest state in the nation, we let them."
