If you've looked in your inbox today, you know it's GIVING TUESDAY. A day where every nonprofit asks (pleads!) for your support. Is this fun for us? Absolutely not. Is it necessary for our survival? Unfortunately, YES.
However, this year, we're excited to share that a donor (who wishes to remain anonymous) has generously agreed to match up to $3,000 in all donations received today. This is our 1st every match and it means $25 becomes $50, $50 becomes $100, $3,000 becomes $6,000! Here's how your donations help the The Rumpus's mission of supporting risk-taking writers:

$50 covers one contributor (we publish over 350 writers every year) $100 pays 2 contributors $400 covers 1 month of our current contributor pool funds If we receive $3,000 in donations by midnight TONIGHT, we will receive the full match. This would cover our current contributor pool funds for 2024! Help us ensure we don't miss out on this major opportunity and leave unclaimed funds on the table. Your support in any amount matters!

 Not based in the U.S.? Don’t qualify for OR need the tax write-off? Support via Paypal will also count toward the match. 

If you prefer to send your donation via check or are contacting The Rumpus on behalf of a Foundation, DAF (donor advised fund), or company please contact Alyson Sinclair, Publisher at alyson.sinclair@therumpus.netfor simple instructions on sending the funds in a way that ensures you receive a receipt for tax write-off purposes. Donations made to The Rumpus via the Fractured Atlas link above will automatically receive an email confirmation and receipt for tax write-off purposes.

The Rumpus only survives with reader support

Founded in 2009 in San Francisco and now based in Asheville, NC, The Rumpusis one of the longest running truly independent online literary and culture magazines. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We do not charge a reading fee for the over 7,000 submissions we receive a year and we regularly publish over 450 original pieces a year. This includes fiction, essays, poetry, comics, interviews, book reviews, themed columns and special issues, and more. In the past two years alone, work published by The Rumpus has been included in Best American Essays, Best of the Net, Best American Poetry, along with being included in numerous other anthologies and authors first books.
