Dear Friend,

Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!

Congress has reconvened, and there are several important legislative items that need to be addressed before the end of the 118th Congress. As we continue our work this session, I am eager to work with my Senate Republican colleagues to address the needs of all Americans, strengthen our communities and paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future.

As we reflect on the progress ahead, let us also take a moment to honor the brave men and women who have served our country, as we did last Monday on Veterans Day. Their selflessness, bravery, and commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear are a testament to the strength of our nation. May we carry their example of service, unity, and dedication to the greater good.

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Week in Review

A New Era of Leadership

The Biden-Harris administration is leaving the American people with significant challenges–an economy that requires significant rebuilding, wide open borders, and escalating threats to our national security. Senate Republicans recognize that these issues won’t be solved overnight, but we are unwavering in our commitment to confront them head-on.

Our new Senate leadership team brings new perspectives, diverse experiences, and a shared commitment to finding real, lasting common sense solutions that will benefit all Americans. As the next Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), I look forward to working with President-elect Trump and Republican leadership in Congress to rebuild an America stronger than ever before. Together, we will not only address the challenges of the present but will lay the foundation for a more prosperous and just future for generations to come.

Continuing to Stand with Israel and Against Antisemitism

In the face of growing threats from hostile actors, it’s crucial that we continue to stand by our greatest ally. I was proud to join Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Republican colleagues in introducing the Stand with Israel Act. This legislation would prohibit the United States from funding United Nations (UN) agencies that expel, downgrade, suspend, or otherwise restrict the participation of Israel. The United States continues to stand with Israel and against antisemitism.

Sharing the #SCSweetTea

I’m pleased to see Fort Sumter now included in the Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. This addition extends the fort’s legacy beyond the Civil War to honor the resilience and determination in the fight against slavery. Fort Sumter now stands as a symbol of resistance to oppression, reminding us that the fight for freedom and equality was a widespread, ongoing effort unfolding in communities across the nation. I’m proud to see this historic site recognized for its profound contribution to the ongoing pursuit of justice and freedom.

The Hill: Tim Scott takes over as NRSC chair for 2026 cycle

By Al Weaver

November 13, 2024

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) will take over as chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and helm the campaign efforts for the 2026 cycle.

Scott won the chair position Wednesday and ran uncontested for it. He replaces Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), who steered the party to a potential 53-seat majority and four flipped seats during the 2024 cycle.

“I am honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me to protect and grow our Republican majority,” Scott said. “With President Trump in the White House and Republican leadership in Congress, help is on the way for the American people. Donald J. Trump proved that when we fight everywhere with the TRUTH, we win. That is why we must secure a Republican Senate for all four years of the Trump administration, and that work starts today!”
