Roughly eight months ago, I became the editor of Maclean’s, Canada’s storied national magazine, with a mission to publish the most ambitious longform feature journalism in the country, on the most important subjects, in the most irresistible way. I’m proud of the work we’ve already done, including Michelle Cyca’s blockbuster cover story on the “pretendian” scandals at Canadian universities, Alan Drummond’s excruciating account of running an emergency department under stressful conditions, Stephen Maher’s clear-eyed report of the young man who drove his truck into the Afzaal family in London, Ontario, and Omar Mouallem's chilling investigation into the case of an abusive Calgary high school teacher.
