Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of today's top headlines.
Parade time: Football fans in town for Super Bowl LIX will be treated Saturday morning to a Mardi Gras-style parade, complete with 18 floats, bands, dance groups and throws. Doug MacCash has a preview, with photos and a route map.
Short-term rental boom: With the Super Bowl in town and hotel rooms booked up months ago, how are short-term rentals doing? Quite well, of course. Anthony McAuley has the details.
Immigration tension in Jefferson Parish: A Jefferson Parish School Board meeting ended abruptly this week amid allegations that it is not doing enough to make students feel safe now that the Trump administration has made it clear churches, schools and other places that were formerly safe havens could be raided by ICE agents. Marie Fazio and Lara Nicholson have the story.
Superfog warning: Please be careful on the roads this morning. The weather service is warning that there could be a mix of fog and wildfire smoke — known as superfog — making the highways dangerous.
