'PROVOCATION': The joy and spectacle of the Krewe of Cleopatra parade was interrupted by a float rider at Gallier Hall throwing a strand of beads with a Confederate flag medallion and the words "Southern Pride." Cleopatra's captain vowed to expel the krewe member.
PRIVATEER PIGSKIN: Division I college football at the University of New Orleans? It could happen. UNO commissioned a feasibility study to examine the pros and cons of adding football to the school’s athletic program and presented its findings to faculty leaders last week. Early response has been positive, but school officials cautioned they are still in the exploratory stage and said the earliest the school would be able to field a team would be 2024.
