Want to improve school safety? Poll of Utahns says secure schools, enforce stricter gun control laws

By the numbers:

32% of Utahns said restricting access to school campuses was the best way to keep students safe.
23% believe there should be stricter enforcement of gun laws.
15% said schools should station armed guards in schools.
13% think we should arm teachers.
2% said nothing needs to be done.
15% responded “other”.

Why it matters: According to Utah Education Association President Heidi Matthews, these survey results underscore the urgency to come up with a solution, but that it’s not a problem that can be solved with one single approach.

Why is a potential Republican presidential candidate coming to Utah?

Is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis aiming at a possible run for President in 2024? DeSantis is coming to Utah to raise funds for his 2022 gubernatorial campaign and having a private fundraiser so far from home suggests he has national aspirations, according to CNBC.
