A potential win for the state's hemp industry

Hemp win?: The state's hemp THC industry is nearing a victory in this year's legislative session, as lawmakers, after much debate, seem unwilling to restrict it, Sam Karlin reports. Hemp-derived products that get users high are widely available at gas stations and smoke shops around the state. 


Budget deal: The Louisiana House and Senate have struck a deal to lift an obscure state spending cap, which allows the state to spend extra tax revenue on infrastructure projects and other priorities, James Finn reports. 


Debt limit deal: Baton Rouge was at the center of negotiations to lift the nation's debt ceiling and avoid a financial recession, Mark Ballard reports. Here's how U.S. Rep. Garret Graves, R-Baton Rouge, and White House official Shalanda Young, of Clinton, helped the Biden White House reach a deal with Congress at the final hour.
