In North Minneapolis, come for the haircut, stay for the shot
A White House initiative aims to bring the vaccine to Black-owned barbershops and beauty salons across the country, including one in north Minneapolis. Over the next five weeks Wilson's Image Barbers and Stylists , will double as a vaccination clinic for customers and community members. 

Barbers are some of the most trusted people in the Black community, said owner Tito Wilson. They are good listeners, and customers listen to them, too. Organizers hope that partnering with barbers and stylists will help boost vaccination rates in neighborhoods that need it most.

Women's soccer in Minnesota gets grassroots boost
The United Soccer League formed the women's league aiming to begin play in May of 2022. A month ago, Minnesota's team was approved to join as a founding member.

In a structure like the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota’s women’s soccer team will be owned through community shares. Team organizers plan to start selling shares in October.

St. Paul resident, Hwa Jeong Kim is jumping at the chance. "I see it as an opportunity to get girls seeing themselves in those roles to know that it's a pathway for them. And I think engaging more women in sports in general can only be better for the community at large," Kim said.
