Tourists have been urged not to visit Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as the area now has the highest Covid-19 case rates in England.
View email online | | | | | Aug 25, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening Who would have thought that the UK would be putting up the ‘full’ signs in the last few weeks of summer. All across the country, holiday resorts are reporting that hotels, B&Bs and camp sites are completely full, while if you can get a table at a restaurant you are either very lucky or you booked a year ago. On the surface, this sounds like great news. Thousands of people are discovering just how beautiful and diverse this country is whether you are looking for a week at the seaside or a walking holiday in the Lakes, Dales or Scotland. But a more sinister side to this has emerged ... profiteering. Apparently some places are charging up to 89 per cent more than pre-pandemic levels because demand is so high as people steer clear of holidays abroad. How short-sighted. Next year people will feel more confident about a trip to foreign soil and if they feel they have been ripped off in this country, they are unlikely to want to repeat the experience. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
