Heartbreak for Christie: Newcastle wheelchair athlete Christie Dawes has been forced to watch the Berlin Marathon from the sidelines after an airline lost her racing chair. Dawes arrived in Berlin late last week to prepare for the marathon and spent a frantic 48 hours trying to find her chair.
Tomago decarbonisation: New South Wales' largest energy user Tomago Aluminium is accelerating its decarbonisation plans, seeking collaboration on renewable power generation and energy storage projects.
Vales Point sold: Lake Macquarie's Vales Point Power Station is due to close by the end of the decade, but it's in the process of being sold to a Czech resources company. Its current owner Delta Electricity announced it had reached a deal to sell to Sev.en Global Investments.
Tomaree Lodge: The Port Stephens community is ramping up efforts to have the former Tomaree Lodge in Shoal Bay used as emergency accommodation. The former residential centre for people with disabilities closed in April last year.
Hexham trains: The train support facility in Hexham has been given approval to expand to help meet growing rail freight demands. The facility has been operating since 2016 to maintain and service freight trains, but the operator Aurizon Operations says rail demand in the Hunter freight network has increased significantly, resulting in operation constraints.
Dungog rescue: A police officer has been praised after rescuing three people trapped in their car in floodwaters on Thursday. The officer used a rope as a safety line, entering the flooded causeway and making his way to the vehicle. He helped a four-year-old boy and two women to safety.
Container bill: The Independent MP for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper is set to introduce a bill to parliament designed to allow the Port of Newcastle to diversify and expand its container terminal.
