Portugal or Washington State? Where are we?
Growing Portuguese varietals in the US is a limited venture. There may be fewer than 200 acres nationwide. We love our rather exclusive vineyard at the Desert Wind Tasting Room. Here we grow about two acres of grapes, varietals which originated in Portugal, and in that country are most often components of fortified port wines. Let us introduce you. 2016 Touriga Nacional in a dry red table style wine and the 2019 in our Rosé style. The 2016 Souzão is the first time we have featured it in a stand alone, we have used it in the past for blending in our Ora blends or our 2018 Rosé.
