False promises, real theft: Technology has made a lot of things easier, and unfortunately, that includes scamming people. Turns out someone has created a fake university with a logo and design elements similar the University of New Orleans and has been cheating aspiring students out of thousands of dollars.
Union vote: The Starbucks Coffee shop on Maple Street has become the first of the Seattle-based chain's Louisiana locations to vote to unionize, as employees seek leverage to improve pay, sick time policy and staffing levels.
Abortion ban: At the state capitol, legislators sent legislation to the governor that would ban most terminations of pregnancies — including ones that result from rape or incest — in Louisiana if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade later this summer as expected. It was the second to the last day of the session, and was marked by partisan skirmishes.
