Get ready for half term there's much fun to be had

Half Term is coming around pretty quickly, after a gloomy January time moves on apace. We've got a brilliant range of half term workshops, courses and some ridiculously brilliant things to do out and about around town. No place better to be this February than right here in good old London Town.

From the Southbank's Imagine Festival complete with Russell Brand, orchestras and Alice in Wonderland, to The Horniman's brilliant new Plantastic exhibition there is something to keep everyone happy this half term. I love the sound of glitter-balls, mini-raves, storytelling and light shows for under 11's at the brand new Mini Vaults festival in Waterloo. It runs throughout February but it's important to book tickets ahead.

Day workshops and courses are a great way to add a little flavour into this February half term if you are in town. Choose something different from circus-skills sessions to movie workshops, theatre, dance and art classes, not forgetting indoor skiing and snowboarding courses in Hertfordshire.

Julio-le-Parc's light installations have been transforming the Serpentine Sackler Gallery since November. This Argentinian born, Parisian artist's exhibition is perfect for the whole family. There are buttons to press and things to poke and play with, it's lots of fun filled with shifting lights and mirrors. This Sunday join an inspiring family workshop with filmmaker James Holcombe exploring the magical properties of light - 1st Feb - drop in between 12-5pm - and it's free.
