A hybrid-electric regional airliner concept developed has been selected as the winning entry in a design challenge.

The HyBird concept is a low-noise, low-emissions aircraft designed for crewed passenger flights by day and uncrewed cargo flights by night to improve the economics of services to remote communities.

Technologies were selected to allow an entry into service in 2025 and designed to carry nine passengers or 2,000 lb. of cargo.
