“Litquake was happening a few weeks after I moved to San Francisco seven years ago and nothing could make a lonely recent poetry major grad feel more welcome in this city. Anything I can do to keep it alive.” —Summer H., donor & attendee Dear Friend, Since the beginning, Litquake has worked to create the most accessible world-class literary festival around, welcoming all writers and readers to join together in the age-old community of story and storytelling. This is why almost all Litquake events are free and open to the public. And now anyone from anywhere can access Litquake and join us virtually—a silver lining of the past year that’s helped us grow our community and bring even more eyes and energy to the Bay Area literary scene. We are proud to know that Litquake is the most accessible source of literary programming in the Bay Area. Similar local purveyors currently charge anywhere from $15-$45+ per event. For many, that’s too much to ask and we know you agree: 90% of Litquake attendees feel our events are more accessible. As we build towards returning to in-person events in 2021 and work to sustain our new virtual community, we want to re-up our promise to you: Litquake will remain the welcoming, accessible festival that it’s always been. Literature connects us, it nourishes us—everyone deserves literature. |
