AB Espresso: Emaar plans new Dubai “super tower”

Emaar is considering plans for a new “super tower” in Dubai that would eclipse all other planned developments in height, and likely become the world’s second-tallest building. The company’s founder Mohamed Alabbar, sources say, has been working on incorporating “sustainable, cutting-edge technologies that have yet to be used in any development in the world.” Emaar already holds the record for the world’s tallest building, the 828m Burj Khalifa, which officially opened in January 2010.

In other news, Dubai is looking to develop the medical tourism sector after indirect revenues surpassed $628m last year. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance Dubai’s position in the global medical tourism market. This collaboration aims to establish Dubai as a leading destination for healthcare, quality of life, and overall happiness.

Aside from this, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued Law No. (19) of 2024 to regulate the grant of law enforcement capacity in the emirate. The new legislation aims to ensure proper implementation of laws by those granted law enforcement capacity and to strengthen public-private partnerships in managing public facilities.
