Meanwhile, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has attracted AED 43.6 billion in investments over the past decade through its Independent Power and Water Producer (IPWP) model. The IPWP projects are part of Dubai’s efforts to become a global hub for the green economy, in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

In other news, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched two new circular bus routes to enhance the city’s public transport network. The routes, DH1 and DA2, connect Dubai Hills with Equity Metro Station and DAMAC Hills with Dubai Studio City, respectively.

Speaking of travel and transport, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for a massive increase in passenger traffic from July 6 to 17, with an expected 3.3 million travellers passing through its terminals. Officials project that 914,000 passengers will depart from DXB during this period. The airport expects its busiest weekend from July 12 to 14, with 840,000 travellers expected. July 13 is forecast to be the peak day, with an estimated 286,000 passengers.

Moreover, dnata Travel has reported a 35 percent rise in international bookings for July and August 2024 compared to the same period last year. The agency is currently assisting thousands of travelers with pre-booked itineraries and late bookings through multiple channels, which includes 14 retail stores across the country, as one of the busiest weekends for travel approaches. Thailand, the Maldives, Mauritius, Turkey and the UK were the top 5 most popular destinations for international travel from the UAE this summer, according to dnata Travel.
